Do not forget to pack those special sweets from your country to be shared with your colleagues at IAPTI2018!
The venue for the IAPTI2018 conference will be the ADEIT Centre (the University of Valencia’s University-Business Foundation) in the heart of the city of Valencia (near Plaza del Ayuntamiento and Plaza de la Reina).
This year Valencia has taken off spectacularly in terms of tourism for various reasons, so be sure to get your place to stay during the conference. In any case, it’s not a huge city so the distances are very manageable.
See you soon with your colleagues by the Mediterranean!

The acceptability challenge: language variation and language change
An event you don’t want to miss!
The veteran linguistics sage David Crystal will be paying us a virtual visit to share his latest thoughts with us.
David Crystal’s authored works are mainly in the field of language, including several Penguin books, but he is perhaps best known for his two encyclopedias for Cambridge University Press, The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Language and The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language. Recent books include The Story of Be: a Verb’s-eye View of the English Language (2017), Making Sense: the Glamorous Story of English Grammar (2017), The Oxford Dictionary of Original Shakespearean Pronunciation (2016), The Oxford Illustrated Shakespeare Dictionary (2015, with Ben Crystal), The Disappearing Dictionary: a treasury of lost English dialect words (2015), and Making a Point: the Pernickety Story of English Punctuation (2015) – Persnickety in the US.
IAPTI is proud to announce its Closing Keynote Speaker for IAPTI 2018!
Looking at recent developments in language technology —and imagining what might be around the corner— you cannot help wondering whether there will be a place for expert, professional linguists in tomorrow’s global economy.
Ralf Lemster will discuss the challenges professional linguists are facing —as well as some strategies in coping with them. Will it be an easy journey? Certainly not, but definitely one worth embarking upon.
NEWSFLASH! The day before the conference (September 28) IAPTI is offering three top-notch ***free*** workshops at the Universidad Europea de Valencia for those who have registered for the conference during the Early Bird period when registration opens.
