Freelance project management: tips and tools

Whether you’re working on your own or in a team, you can improve your workflow, reduce stress, and serve your clients more efficiently if you have a basic grasp of project management concepts, and are able to choose the tool that works for you. In this presentation, I’ll walk you through the four different approaches I used over the past 21 years, and show you how to gain more control of your workflow with Excel or with online spreadsheets. We’ll also discuss the pros and cons of project management and billing software for translators, online and offline, and briefly touch on GDPR compliance and ISO 17100 certification. Let’s take control of the process!

Court-certified Dutch>English translator, author’s editor, copywriter and entrepreneur with 21 years of experience in helping authors, researchers, companies, NGOs and governments convey their concepts to an international audience. Strong focus on climate and environment, IT and telecom, technology and innovation, and creative design; fiercely dedicated to keeping her industry-specific knowledge up to par.
An inveterate bookaholic and irrepressible extrovert who has lived more than half her life over 9000 km from her birthplace, Joy is fascinated by language, food, coffee & speculative fiction.
