InterpretimeBank is a life-long learning tool shaped as an online community for professional interpreters and interpreting students, who want to improve their skills, add new active or passive languages or keep up with the interpreting techniques during the less busy periods of work. The aim of the community is to create a network of professional interpreters working worldwide, foster knowledge exchange and interconnect different interpreting disciplines on the basis of the peer to peer collaboration and mutual support as drivers for continuous learning.
It works as a time bank where time is the currency earned or spent on the practice exchanges with other users and it is based on the principles of horizontality and reciprocity.
InterpretimeBank also wants to serve as a tool for the exercise of deliberate practice on specific aspects of the different interpreting techniques. In this regard, we would like to focus on the challenges we faced when creating the tool and on the experience of the users of the community and how it has been useful to them to improve on the targeted aspects in the practice.
In an increasingly globalized world, we strongly believe that online spaces have an essential role in terms of serving as platforms to exchange not only expertise, but knowledge and experience on good practices.
