Much like the “hosts” of the hit HBO series “Westworld,” professional translators usually tend to learn specific software based only on what colleagues or teachers tell them. However, many translators don’t really know which are all the translation-environment tools available, and are mostly unaware of all the other software key to be prepared for the current market.
Bearing this in mind, we will navigate through the past, present, and future technological challenges, opportunities and tools of the professional translator.
Damián Santilli has a BA on Translation from the Universidad de Morón (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and a Postgraduate Degree on Copy-Editing and Proofreading in Spanish (Fundación Litterae-Fundéu). Since 2009, he’s offered more than 100 presentations and workshops on translation technology and audiovisual translation. And since 2010, he teaches Translation Technology at the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino and at the Masters’ Degree on Translation at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.
In 2016, he co-authored, edited and coordinated the first comprehensive translation technology book written in Spanish, the Manual de informática aplicada a la traducción (Editorial CTPCBA).
