In 2016, IAPTI started a great initiative which we called “The African Flame”. In order to empower our African colleagues to “be the ones who profit from globalization” (and not the other way around), several in-person meetings were held around the African continent. I, Alfred Mtawali (Kenyan translator and Head of the Kenya Chapter), joined later by Obi Udeariy (Nigeria, Head of the Nigeria Chapter), coordinated meetings in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Madagascar, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal and Nigeria to share useful information and resources with our colleagues.
