BIOGRAPHY
Aurora Humarán is a sworn translator (ENG>SPA) graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1982. In 2005, she graduated as an international proofreader of Spanish from Fundación Litterae-Fundéu. Since 2011 she has been a Corresponding Member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE).
Aurora is one of the founding members and the current President of the International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters.
Aurora translated, among others, The New York Times bestseller, A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park (HMH). Bank Street College of Education included two of her translations in the yearly bulletin “Best Translations into Spanish of the Year”: If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen (Penguin) in 2020, and Bodies are cool by Tyler Feder (Penguin) in 2024. In 2023, as an Awarded Author, she received the Silver Medal of the International Latino Book Award (ILBA) for her translation of The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera (Levine Querido). ILBA is an annual award given to authors, translators, and illustrators. It is the largest Latino Cultural Award in the USA.
Her latest translations include Tutti’s Promise by K. Heidi Fishman (MB Publishing) and the translation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Kids, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play by Lois Burdett (QWILL Media & Education, Inc.).
