This talk tackles various modern aspects pertinent to the world of the professional translator and interpreter. From awareness of the value of the service offered to the importance of consistency between image and professional skills, Ricardo Paolinelli Persio discusses how to increase and value the translator’s and interpreter’s role so that he or she becomes an independent, economically accomplished and technically recognised professional. New technologies and real market conditions, as well as the recent growth of Portuguese as a business language, will be equally touched upon during this presentation.
