An overview of the mindset of Romanian translators in 2023. What they want, what they are willing to do to evolve professionally, how threatened or affected they feel by the new technologies and Artificial Intelligence. A case study based on questionnaires filled din by Romanian translators and on their direct testimonies.
George Papadopol is a conference interpreter, translator, reviser and trainer. Since 2014, he is founder and president of the Professional Association of Interpreters and Translators – APIT Romania. In this capacity, he has organized and participated as a speaker in various national translation-related events. Through APIT Romania he has been actively involved in the defence of the professional interests of translators and interpreters, promoting a media campaign in this regard, as well as sustained efforts in the relation with the Ministry of Justice with regard to the status of authorized translators and interpreters. Since 2006, he is the manager of his own translation and interpreting company, EKFRASIS S.R.L.
He is a graduate of the Faculty of General Medicine, UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY “CAROL DAVILA”, Bucharest, and since July 2016 a Master’s student in the Master’s degree programme “LATIN-ROMANIC-MODERN GREEK TRANSLATION STUDIES” at the UNIVERSITY OF BUCHAREST – FACULTY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES.
