Debunking Computer-aided Translation (CAT) Tool Myths (Kevin Lossner)

Online gathering spots and translator meetings in every venue are full of opinions and advice about translation technology. The diversity of conflicting views based on a wild mix of experience and ignorance can eaily confuse and mislead those unfamiliar with such technology and obscure new possibilities even for competent veteran users. Join us as common myths  -good and bad- about the role and limitations of "CAT tools" are discussed and wider perspectives and possibilities are presented. Whether these technologies serve as shackles in our work or tools of productive liberation is often a matter of understanding and personal choice.
