The largest vocabulary in music: An analysis of vocabularies of top selling musicians

We will take a look at the 99 top selling musicians of all times. This list has diversity across genres, countries of origin and languages used. An analysis is carried out to calculate the vocabulary sizes of these musicians. We make a number of interesting observations from this. For eg: Musicians writing songs in multiple languages (like Gloria Estefan) have a higher vocabulary size than their counterparts. Vocabulary size gives us a new method of appreciating the diversity in songwriting techniques. We also briefly examine if there is any correlation between commercial success and vocabulary size.
