Well, the Thanksgiving staple \u201cwild turkey\u201d <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">indigenous to Mexico bears a striking resemblance to the East African turkey that was <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">brought to Europe by the Turks of the Ottoman Empire. Therefore, it was named \u201cthe turkey-<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">hen\u201d. Moreover, it is called \u201chindi\u201d (literally \u201cfrom India\u201d) in Turkish, \u201cd\u00b4inde\u201d (rooster of India) <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">in French, \u201cPeru bird\u201d in Portuguese, and \u201cDutch chicken\u201d in Malay. As you can see, it is <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">named after the country exporting it. Since Turkey has decided to officially change its name <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">from Turkey to T\u00fcrkiye in a recent campaign, we call the bird \u201cturkey\u201d, and the country <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">T\u00fcrkiye now.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i><br \/>But enough of the bird talk; let\u2019s go back to Bursa, our IAPTI\u00a02024 host!<\/i> The first capital of <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the Ottoman Empire sits against the backdrop of the mighty Uluda\u011f mountain (literally <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">translated as the \u201cmighty mountain\u201d\u2014humble, much?).
